How fresh are the prices?

AAA gasoline averages update daily; EIA diesel data is weekly. Oil quotes can be delayed, and historical chart points are daily observations. Every price carries its own observation date. Data checks run every five minutes, with a refresh when you return to the page.

How is the news selected?

The feed aggregates recent Google News RSS search results about the conflict, diplomacy, shipping and humanitarian impact. What does the cost include?

The $37.5B public Pentagon total, reported July 21, includes past and projected costs through September 30. The figure stays fixed until an authoritative replacement is available. Per-taxpayer equivalence divides it by 165 million taxpayers; it is not a measured personal liability.

What does the fuel calculator assume?

Monthly fuel cost equals miles driven divided by miles per gallon, multiplied by the selected average gas price. The national comparison uses a $3.10/gal prewar reference; state selections omit that comparison because a matching state baseline is not available. This calculation excludes maintenance, taxes beyond the pump price, and hypothetical grocery increases.
